We have been writing in Korean as a Korean-American while living in U.S. It would be appropriate for us to do so naturally since we were born and educated in Korean up until to be naturalized American by choice in the land where the common language is American English.
It could be OK among so called the people of 1st generation. How about the other generation who tagged along as infants, toddlers and juveniles along the parents to emigrate, which we call 1 1/2 age group. What about the people who were born in American as citizens from the start.
This forum is to set up for these youngsters, which I will admire for its creative initiative, not because someone can be capable of writing essays in English for his selfish boasting but for the purpose of the idea we the nation converter is supposedly to accommodate their siblings under their Korean heritage as well.
On contrary to our vague notion of living long life, we the old generation will not remain alive long enough, say 100 years of age, to see whether our children could inherit our effort to its ripening or not in the future.
We have to start NOW, therefore, to make steps toward that goal, which is our calling and our duty also to accomplish the Korean traditional legacy to be carried on in this great country. I welcome your suggestion and immediate contribution in the far-sighting gigantic but a small stride to that ambition.
